Forage Harvesters

The pioneering goes on:
Ever since the first self-propelled forage harvesters appeared in the maize and grass fields, New Holland has been instrumental in their development and refinement. With more than 20.000 units sold all over the world, major product specifications and feature introductions are linked to the New Holland name because New Holland, as a Specialist, both responds to the farmer's needs and anticipates new requirements. To existing industry leading features such as Metalert III™ system, Adjust-O-Matic™ knife sharpening and shear bar setting system, the Discovery™ Cab and Infoview™ monitor the new FX range adds HydroLoc™ Drive.

More capacity, increased kernel cracking with the dual drive crop processor: Two serrated rolls rotate at high speed providing efficient crop transfer and increased maize kernel cracking. Both rolls are driven by a powerband from the left-hand side. A second powerband on the right-hand side links the upper and lower roll to ensure very positive and effective roll drive. Two types of rolls are available: in addition to the standard 99-serration rolls, the 77-serration rolls are ideal when a longer length of cut is desired, delivering both efficient kernel cracking and crop transfer.
HydroLoc™Drive: This compact and extremely efficient hydrostatic drive for feed rolls and crop attachments provides the ultimate in “length of cut” flexibility. The ability to change the speed of the feed rolls from the operator’s seat means instant and effortless adjustment of the chop length to meet changing crop conditions or customer’s requirements. For increased silage quality, a more consistent chop length is achieved by the uniform alignment of the crop over the shearbar, resulting from the speed synchronisation between the attachment auger and feed roll.
With a maximum of 12 knives on the cutterhead, chop length can be set at anywhere between 4 and 20 mm. This is done in two overlapping ranges chosen through a speed range selector on the feed roll drive gearbox. In each of the two ranges, adjustments are made using the InfoView™ monitor in the cab. Quick and easy settings provide ideal chop length in different crops and crop conditions and adapt to different customer requirements.
Depending on the model, the new FX models are powered by either enhanced Caterpillar engines or new generation Iveco engines with fuel injection profiles that meet agricultural needs. These engines are equipped with unit injectors and are electronically governed to meet the highest emissionisation requirements. As well as being extremely fuel efficient, they provide an immediate power response of 25% torque back-up over a 300 rpm reduction.
